So yesterday was our trip to Lincoln, after the promised second early morning firedrill. It was a nice enough day, a little chilly, because I like an idiot forgot my jacket. But the coffee shops in Lincoln probably saw their hot chocolate sales sky rocket! It was quite interesting. We saw the roman sights, ruins more like, mostly in people's back gardens. Can you imagine the realestate brochure! 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, remodeled kitchen, wood floors, and a section of roman wall in the back!!!! Then we walked around on our own. For protection Lincoln was built on the top of a very steep hill!!! which I'm sure worked well for them but oh my, it is VERY very steep! But there were a lot of cute shops so it was worth it. We broke up our assent by stopping in stores along the way :)
Then we toured the castle, also a prison. It was quite interesting. And lots of stairs, apparently conquring armies were lazy like me and didn't like steep hills. The Prison Chapel was exceptionally creeepy. It was built at a time when they thought complete solitude was needed to reform prisoners. So they each have a stall where they cannot see anyone except the preacher, and the little stool is slanted so if they fall asleep they would fall off.
Then we went to the cathedral which was magnificent as most are! We saw the chapter house where early partliments sometimes met, and the da vinci code was filmed. It was huge and very very pretty!
Then we trudged back home, very tired to a quite exceptional dinner, homework, and rest
