Thursday right after classes I took the shuttle into town to I could catch a train to an airport and get the plane that would take me to Cork... Whew! I arrived late Thursday night and found my hostel. Shelia's Hostel a very clean and well run hostel if anyone ever needs a place to stay in Cork City. Then I wok up bright and early at 7am so I could walk to another hostel from whence I was meeting for a Paddywagon Tour! Apparently they are a pretty big deal in Ireland but more on that later. When I got outside it appeared to be raining but I only felt a light mist on my face so I decided there was no need for an umbrella. Hahahaha wrong! I was completely soaked after a 15 minute walk. Irish Rain is very strange. You will feel a light mist and get positively soaked. So anyways I left on my Paddywagon Tour that took me first to Limerick City. Then we went to the Burren which is on the west coast of Ireland and very rocky and interesting. I saw the European side of the Atlantic Ocean and some interesting stone art some people had left. Then we ate lunch in Doolin and then onto the Cliffs of Moher.
From working in an area full of tourists I understand and sympathize that people cannot control the weather. However I cannot actually say I saw the Cliffs of Moher. I heard the waves crashing below, I smelled the salt in the air, I touched the slate wall they have in place to keep people from falling over them... I didn't taste anything and I most definitely didn't see the cliffs. I could barley see my hand in from of me that is how thick the fog was. Still worth the visit since it made me practice seeing sights without seeing them per say!
Then after returning to Cork that evening I found my hostel room of two bunk beds inhabited by all four of my roommates. An Aussie girl, a German girl, and a Polish Girl. And we all decided to go out to dinner. It was a bit surreal for me... I really think I may never go out to dinner with that mix of nationalities again but what fun. They were all just traveling and visiting different places... a bit like me. Isn't it wonderful how small the world is, if only more people realized that!
Which made me remember a mantra of mine that my acting teacher last year imparted onto us
"We all think we are different and are therefore all the same"
Meditate on that

Teresa! GOOD FOR YOU striking out alone like that. I have known too many people in my life who have said "I always wanted to do X but no one would go with me -- and because they waited for the "right" time or the "right" people, what they wanted to do never came to pass.
Glad you found out early that yes, you can have fun on your own, you meet up with people you would not likely have met had you gone with a group. Way to go!
What fun to watch your discoveries unfold! [Old joke you get those 40 shades of green only after the 40 shades of gray. Or "grey" if you prefer.]
